ENGINEERING & ZONING

The Department of Engineering & Zoning provides engineering, project management, and planning services for capitol improvement projects. This department also works strategically to achieve the highest and best use of all parcels with the City of Homewood.


This department receives applications for variances, rezoning requests, development plans, and resurveys as well as administering the Board of Zoning Adjustment and Planning Commission. 


Located on the 4th floor of city hall, this department is also responsible for ADA compliance, stormwater infrastructure, along with tree and fence permits.


The Department of Engineering & Zoning holds open office hours from 9:00am – 12:00pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Feel free to schedule a meeting by calling 205-332-6800.

The City of Homewood Department of Engineering and Zoning works strategically to achieve the highest and best use of all parcels within the City of Homewood. In an effort to provide an opportunity for individuals that live and work in Homewood to discuss projects or clarify outstanding questions, the department hosts “Open Office Hours” every second and fourth Wednesday of the month.
