FLOODPLAIN DEVELOPMENT
All development in a Special Flood Hazard Area (“SFHA”) in the City of Homewood requires a Floodplain Development Permit. Development in a SFHA is required to comply with the city’s Floodplain Development Ordinance.
NEW FLOOD RATING
This letter outlines the Department of Homeland Security's findings regarding the City’s NFIP/CRS 5-year cycle field verification. It confirms the preliminary results, noting that Homewood's rating has improved from a Class 9 to a Class 7. This is excellent news for property owners who are required to carry flood insurance, as they are now eligible for a 15% discount on their flood insurance premiums.
