    1. Council President Alex Wyatt updated the committee about the city manager process. Redistricting is being worked on by the state and he hopes to have an update in the next week or so, and then the other update was the city is still waiting on the beginning pages of developing a petition that would be needed for a vote by the public.

    2. Committee sent bids for the Reese Street Sidewalk Improvements after a Bid Opening at 4:30pm to be reviewed by city staff.

    3. Committee was presented with a rendering and details about the new playground slated to be built at Central Park. Council Barry Smith addressed some concerns from the public about the caterpillar and containment within the area. She stated the caterpillar would be used in other ways and still will be visible at the park. As old as it is, it no longer meets minimum requirements that are mandatory for playground equipment and can't be used in the same way anymore. There will be pillars around the entire playground for security and containment of children with small openings that will lead to the large grass field.

After the recent retirement of Chief Nick Hill, Mayor Patrick McClusky has named Brandon Broadhead as the new fire chief for the City of Homewood. Broadhead brings almost 20 years of experience within Homewood's fire department to the role, having served in various leadership positions, most recently as deputy chief. Brandon is very proficient with technology, and will bring that expertise to this position. His top priority is to use technology and other methods to help ensure the deployment of the right personnel for efficient emergency response, rather than a predefined list of firefighters and paramedics. Broadhead also wants to foster strong relationships with surrounding municipalities, enabling seamless collaboration in responding to emergencies within each other's jurisdictions, bolstering staffing and equipment capabilities - a common practice that strengthens the resilience of all departments.
