The City of Homewood has recently implemented updates to its zoning ordinance, aiming to streamline administrative processes and enhance clarity for residents. Zoning classifications are not being changed, if your property was R5 before these updates, it will still be and so on. The updated zoning regulations aim to clarify and streamline administrative processes, making it easier for residents to understand and adhere to the zoning guidelines so they can understand more clearly the limits of projects related to zoning. This ordinance establishes land use districts and regulations for the purpose of implementation of the current Homewood Master Plan adopted by the Homewood Planning Commission.
Reviving Pea Gravel Driveways
The previous ordinance no longer allowed pea gravel driveways, but they will be allowed again with these new updates. Any design with these type of driveways must be approved by zoning prior to construction and can consist of any type of gravel, as long as the area containing it is curved to prevent gravel from escaping.
