Homewood High School recently received a Gold distinction from the College Board naming them to the 2023 Advanced Placement Program (AP) School Honor Roll!
The AP School Honor Roll celebrates institutions that demonstrate a commitment to enhancing their college-going culture, expanding opportunities for students to earn college credit, and enhancing college readiness through their AP programs. This prestigious recognition is awarded annually and highlights schools that deliver exceptional results while ensuring broader access to the benefits of AP coursework.
In the past year, 480 students from Homewood High School took a total of 1,060 AP exams, setting a school record. Impressively, 86% of these students achieved a score of three or higher, making them eligible for valuable college credits.
The College Board's AP Program empowers high school students to engage in college-level studies, with the potential to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both. Through the rigorous curriculum offered in AP courses, students cultivate critical thinking skills, develop the ability to construct compelling arguments, and learn to consider various perspectives on complex issues. These skills not only prepare them for the challenges of college but also equip them for success beyond academia. Furthermore, the pursuit of AP coursework signals to college admissions officers that students have actively sought the most demanding academic experiences available to them.
