Election (held September 24, 2024), took place October 1, 2024. WATCH here
- This new form of government will take effect Nov. 3, 2025.
- The next Homewood municipal election is August 26, 2025 whereby voters will elect four councilors and a mayor.
The measure that was passed September 24, 2024 will change the number of councilors from eleven, to four, each designated to represent one of four wards. There will also be a mayor elected city-wide who would hold a dual role as council president. That will make it a five-person body to vote on matters of the city.
This biggest shift, now that this has passed, will be the council appointing a city manager to oversee daily operations who will be accountable to the entire council and mayor. This position will be key for getting things done more efficiently in our community.
The NEW ward map with four ward boundaries was redrawn by the state according to census data (shown below).
